Can you help kids get what they need to start school?

Operation Backpack will be launched this Friday, 3 January at Lismore Square with St Vincent De Paul Society asking shoppers to buy and donate things that kids need when they start the 2022 school year.

Items needed include pens, lead pencils, highlighters, rulers, erasers, glue sticks, lunch boxes, rolls of clear contact, note pads, water bottles, coloured pencils, pencil cases and backpacks.

‘Lismore Square are excited to partner with St Vincent De Paul to help local families with their back-to-school needs,’ said Elizabeth Fulloon, Centre Manager of Lismore Square.

‘Our donation box in the centre will be available for customers to make contributions and help local children get ready for school.’

Operation Backpack will run from Monday 3 January until Sunday 23 January with all stationary items distributed by St Vincent De Paul once the 2022 school semester begins.

The donation box will be located outside Kmart.

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
